Kimberly Fobbs is the Democratic nominee for Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner
A former member of Oklahoma’s Judicial Nominating Commission, serving under both Democratic and Republican governors, Kimberly has spent a career in corporate leadership and public service.
Professionally she spent nearly two decades of service with Fortune 100 MetLife Insurance including Consumer Relations and Investigations, Policyholder Services, Annuities, Death Claims and Institutional Products. In addition to LOMA certifications, Ms. Fobbs held licenses as a NASD Series 6 and 26 registered principle (inactive) and managed oversight of Insurance Department investigators from Texas and Oklahoma at the MetLife Customer Service Center during the Texas Restitution and related insurance product challenges. Ms. Fobbs was also a certified quality auditor and project management professional.
She brings a broad range of consumer, regulatory and policy driven experience to the office of State Insurance Commissioner making her uniquely qualified to lead the department.
Ms. Fobbs also serves as Chairwoman of the Tulsa County Democratic Party.
Kimberly was elected March 2017 to serve a 2-year term. Under Kimberly’s leadership, the Blue Wave of Women winning Democratic seats in traditionally Republican held areas began. A former Democratic Nominee for Senate District 33, she committed to providing candidates the resources and support from the local party to achieve success evidenced by the 2017 special election victories delivering both a House and Senate seat to the Oklahoma legislature for the Democratic Party.
Chairwoman Fobbs has spear-headed a revitalization of the Tulsa County Democratic Party expanding its influence and representation of citizens and causes. She has opened the doors to marginalized groups to confront issues, and has actively lead the charge in making Education, Healthcare and Criminal Justice reform central to Democratic causes. Ms. Fobbs gave the keynote speech at the Women’s March on Tulsa and continues to move the Democratic Party forward into the 2018 midterm elections.
Ms. Fobbs served four years on the State’s Judicial Nominating Commission, a non-partisan commission responsible for screening and recommending applicants for judicial vacancies affecting every Oklahoman. In addition to serving as Chairwoman, Ms. Fobbs is a motivational public speaker and small business owner operating a marketing, management consulting and business analytics firm, the FCG Group, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Ms. Fobbs wants to ensure fairness, accountability and consumer protections for Oklahomans while improving efficiencies and reducing costs through improved use of technology, increased oversight and improve the ease of doing business for insurers wishing to do business in Oklahoma. She will focus her efforts on under-insurance in P&C, combating fraud and abuse and addressing the rising threat of cyber-security and data privacy.
Oklahoma needs modern regulations and coverage to protect consumers from these risks.
